Spectrum of Experience: The 5 Physical Senses
The new manifestation of Matter (4) sets out on its own path of creation (+1) through (=) its own Various Acts of Motion (5).

SPHERE NUMBER 5 ON THE TREE-OF-LIFE IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE TREE FROM SPHERE 4. THUS, WHERE 4 REPRESENTS A NEW MANIFESTATION OF MATTER, 5 WILL REPRESENT THE DYADIC OPPOSITE OF MATTER, WHICH IS MOTION. THE ARCHETYPE OF 5 DESCRIBES ALL THE VARIOUS WAYS THAT THE MATTER OF 4 CAN MOVE IN ITS UNIVERSE. A UNIVERSE MADE POSSIBLE BY THE POWER OF THE TRINITY. WE HIGHLIGHT THE WORD VARIOUS BECAUSE 5 SYMBOLIZES VARIETY. OUR 5 HUMAN SENSES PROVIDE SUCH A BROAD VARIETY OF PHYSICAL EXPERIENCES, THAT THE 5 SENSES MAY BE ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES OF THE VARIETY OF FIVE, COMING ALIVE!

Four is Uniqueness of Manifestation. Five is Variety of Action.
You are a unique person among the group of ALL people alive at the time you are reading this. And one of your most valuable powers is the VARIETY OF ACTION that your Free Will permits you to pursue! Exploring and seeking to understand 5 is an adventure in exploring the variety of possibilities that are available to you as you live out your life! And just as FOUR represented a new level of complexity beyond that of THREE, FIVE similarly represents a geometric progression of complexity above-and-beyond FOUR. In fact, it might be good to use an example to review OUR ENTIRE PROGRESSION FROM ZERO THROUGH FIVE.

The primary purpose of the following example is to demonstrate how some unique manifestation (FOUR) naturally leads to the concept of variety (FIVE). However, we can take this example all the way back to ZERO and watch how it comes into Being and progresses to become the VARIETY OF FIVE. We will use the analogy of a unique manifestation employed for transporting people and objects: The AUTOMOBILE. Let's follow the integral story of how the automobile came to be:

ZERO - At one time in history, there was NO SUCH THING (ZERO) as an automobile, or for that matter, even an internal combustion gasoline engine. The universe was null and void of all automobiles, or even the thought of an automobile.

ONE - One day in our past, a person brought forth a single, unique idea out of the "Void of Automobiles" which had covered the earth up to this time. This person envisioned some time in the future when a self-contained vehicle could transport people and their gear for extended distances, at faster speeds than horseback ever could. However, the number ONE represents more than just the point in time when the idea of an automobile was born. The number ONE also represents the INDIVIDUAL CHOICES made by each and every person who made it their UNIQUE goal to help CREATE AN AUTOMOBILE. By each person individually adopting this as their goal, they were attesting to the "0 = 1" process of CREATION. Where there were previously ZERO automobiles, these folks made it their goal to MANIFEST AN AUTOMOBILE. However, once these courageous folks made this their goal of creation, suddenly they needed to figure out HOW TO DO IT!

TWO - As we learned with the battery, magnet, and spring, ALL ENERGY SOURCES ARE FORMED OF A DYAD OF POLAR OPPOSITES. While the inventors of the automobile may not have realized this, they did know that they needed some source of energy to provide power to the automobile. Some early inventors tried steam energy, and one of the earliest cars was even electric-powered. However, both of these engines were slow and inefficient. History tells us that the internal combustion engine was the eventual "new creation" which made possible the first practical automobiles. There are several dyads that are involved in supplying power to the automobile via the internal combustion engine:

THREE - At this point, the automobile inventors had established that the "dyad of matter" which was to provide the auto's energy was FUEL+AIR. They had also defined the "dyads of motion" (4-stroke cycle) that would operate on the FUEL+AIR mixture. Now these concepts had to be turned into a working physical model. Devices had to be designed (such as carburetors) that could KEEP THE DYADS IN THE PROPER STATE OF BALANCE. The mechanical camshaft, which balances the four-stroke process across the engine's cylinders, also had to be defined. A physical definition of an engine was needed that would strike the PROPER BALANCE of ALL the various dyads working to transform the energy of FUEL/AIR to AUTO-IN-MOTION. Therefore, since THREE represents balance and stability, we associate this number with both the PROCESS of design, as well as the end-item specifications and drawings that result from the design process. The process of design must be balanced to ensure an acceptable product at an acceptable price. The final definition of the product must also be balanced in order to be capable of balancing the dyads involved in the product's function. Putting things together in a balanced manner to achieve some defined purpose......this is the realm of design...and it is the realm of the balanced trinity. The use of balanced triads in the process of design has been shown by history to be a valuable model for development. When the US forefathers "designed" their government, they were very aware of the power of triadic balance....and this is what gave birth to the U.S. government's triad design which has Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches.

FOUR - Once the design process is complete, and the design specification is finalized, the final product can be made manifest in our physical world! Before the very first auto could ever be physically constructed, it first had to evolve via the "0-1-2-3" non-physical processes. The result of these steps was a description (a set of drawings) that explains how to make the auto manifest in the physical world. Therefore, the process of converting the drawings into the physical object that they describe is somewhat of a magical process. This process transforms something abstract (represented by 3) into something concrete (represented by 4). When we look at how this is represented on the Tree Of Life, we see that this is reflected by a transition from the uppermost triad (1-2-3) down to the middle triad (4-5-6).

FIVE! - Whenever any new creation is made manifest, as is outlined by the number FOUR, you can be sure that there will be attempts to duplicate this creation. This is where we arrive at the concept of VARIETY, for even two autos that are built from the same drawings and specifications are NOT identical to one another. The parts that compose these two similar autos will be machined to slightly different, but not exactly the same tolerances. Therefore, in this sense these two autos may only be slightly different from each other. Greater differences (variety) may manifest if we select two different manufacturers to construct the same part. In such cases, one manufacturer's part may be more reliable than another manufacturer's, or one may be more or less expensive than another. These differences may manifest as slightly different prices for the auto, or somewhat different maintenance intervals for them, even though the cars may be functionally identical.

The most distinctive manifestation of variety in automobiles is displayed when an entirely different set of people create their own, unique version of an automobile by following their own, unique process of "0-1-2-3." This can result in a completely different set of design specifications and drawings that describe a different kind of automobile. This realm of variety encompasses differences such as "sedan vs. convertible" or "Chevrolet vs. Toyota". Each of these manifestations may fall under the generalized description of "automobile", yet we see that the variety of design and design processes employed by the designers has lead to uniqueness. This uniqueness is what provides the consumer with a variety of choices for the purchase of an automobile.

Our Variety of Five Senses Provide for a Vast Spectrum of Experience.
Recall our "4=5" challenge on the previous page... we asked you to assign the 5 human senses to our 5 diagrams that illustrate
The Five Modes of Four. How did you make out with that exercise?

One aspect of living as a physical being is having the ability to SENSE & MEASURE MATTER IN MOTION. Each of the 5 physical senses feed the brain with data about the physical environment around it. The brain filters this physical information and passes it on to the non-physical Mind. Furthermore, each of our senses delivers this data to the Brain/Mind over various periods, or snapshots, of elapsed time. In shorter terms, we sense MATTER (Objects), and we sense MOTION (Changes in the Objects with respect to Space and Time). As we have pointed out on every page in this sequence since Two, MATTER IN MOTION is the central dyad that rules our physical universe.

Our physical senses are a lot like 5 individual news reporters, each reporting on the same story, but from a different vantage point. All of these reporters, with their unique POV's and biases, when viewed collectively provide a VARIETY of data for us to make informed decisions. Whenever we make informed ("intelligent") decisions, we are actually both honoring and exercising our FREE WILL OF CHOICE. The following table shows us how our senses vary across several different forms of universal measurement: Active vs. Passive sensing, Frequency vs. Time sensing, and Wave vs. Particle sensing. The final column in this table shows how we can associate this spectrum of variation of our 5 senses directly to the spectrum of colors of visible light that our eyes can perceive.

Our Five Digits (fingers) Allow A Variety of Motion & Actions.
Looking at the human hand, anyone would have to agree that it possesses a great deal of flexibility and dexterity. The dexterity of all five fingers provides a large range of motions that your hand is capable of performing. Look at your five fingers and see how different each one is from the other. Clearly, the thumb sticks out (pardon the pun) on the hand because it opposes the other four fingers. However, just the fact that there are FIVE different fingers means we can express a variety of different symbolic thoughts with our hands and fingers. Possibly some of the best correlating evidence to support this fact is the American Sign Language (ASL). In this language for deaf and deaf-mute people, the fingers are used as a means for encoding language and information that would otherwise be spoken and heard aurally.

The sheer usefulness of the human hand is based upon the seemingly infinite number of configurations that the FIVE FINGERS are capable of executing. This five-fold dexterity of the fingers on each hand is what makes possible the human talents associated with playing various musical instruments, operating computer keyboards, cooking meals, and a whole variety of other pasttimes. Consider the VARIETY of work that your 5-fingered hands can do for you, and then begin to consider how this is reflected in ALL UNIVERSAL MANIFESTATIONS OF FIVE. Some of the following questions are presented for your consideration, focus, and/or meditation:

1) How do your FIVE FINGERS correlate to your FIVE SENSES?

2) How can you use your fingers to remind you of variety in everything you do?

3) Could it be beneficial to consider FIVE different ways to achieve any particular goal?

4) How would you align five elements of anything onto the Tree Of Life?

5) What are the five talents that you possess for which you are most thankful?

You Are A Star! This Drawing Proves It!
Examine the correlation at left between the appendages of the human body and the classic, 5-pointed star. Cool, eh? YOU ARE A STAR! The quote "Every Man and Every Woman Is A Star!" (Crowley-1904) is a literal truth as shown in the drawing. The architecture of the human body, regardless of its specific sexual distinction, is that of a five-pointed star. We are also told that we are "made in the image and likeness of God." Perhaps this IS true...is it not?

Now look at the five fingers on your hand and compare them to the drawing at the right. Your hand is a subsystem of the body that can be correlated to the shape of the star. The human body is a subsystem of our global society that also can be correlated to the shape of the star. Here again we experience a reminder of the fact that our universe is nothing more than "systems within systems." Look around your world as you walk through it and see if you can identify new groupings of FIVE. When you find one, consider how you would align those elements of five with the points on a star. Here is one to get you started:

How would you divide the physical and functional operation of the human heart into FIVE elements?

Vowels Are Tools Which Provide a Variety of Vocal Connections.
Vowels are bridges for consonants. Vowels not only connect consonants together, but they can also modify consonants (as in the effect of the "Silent E"). However, the primary value of vowels is in the VARIOUS NUMBERS OF WAYS they can be used to connect and modify the consonants. Now I am sure that someone out there will question "what about y? That is a vowel sometimes!" The operative word here is "sometimes", and when you consider how "y" acts as a vowel, you will notice that it often carries the vocal characteristics of either "i" or "e". Therefore, "y" cannot really be considered a "dues-paying member of the brotherhood of vowels."

Vowels also lend a great deal of symmetry and balance to our language. Each vowel has a "long" and a "short" sound, thereby providing for TEN different expressions in terms of sound and vocal representations. Therefore, just as we point out that each element in our universe possesses an "active" and a "passive" characteristic, here we see that vowels follow suit. Would you consider the "long" pronunciation of the vowel to be it's active characteristic with the "short" being passive? Or would you assign them the other way around? What works for you? Either answer is "right" because there is no "wrong".

(5=6) New Matter, Displaying a Variety of Motion, Creates a New Form of Stability.

This ought to be getting pretty routine by now.... Of course, as in all the previous pages, while the previous sections have discussed the static elements of Five that appear in our universe, this section seeks to examine FIVE AS BECOMING, rather than FIVE AS BEING. Thus, we seek to understand how FIVE BECOMES SIX. The diagram above illustrates the SIX different ways that FIVE elements of MATTER and/or MOTION can interact to create/define objects and events in our universe.

Once again, we implore you to LOOK AROUND YOUR UNIVERSE and become AWARE of how various phenomenon reflect some of the MATTER/MOTION configurations shown here. As an example, how about we teach everyone a little bit about FLIGHT (one of my favorite subjects)? I would like you to take a look at Configuration (E) in the table above: Four arrows emanating from a single dot. Instead of viewing it from the "X" configuration as I have depicted above, go ahead and re-draw it in a "+" configuration. Then I would like you to label each of the four arrows with a letter: Mark the upward-pointing arrow as "L". Mark the downward-pointing arrow as "W". Mark the left-pointing arrow as "T". Finally, mark the right-pointing arrow as "D". Pilots and aerospace engineers will immediately recognize this as a Free-Body Diagram of the four forces exerted on any vehicle in flight:

0 ® (The Dot) ® Represents the inert (neutral) matter of the vehicle itself.

L ® (The up-arrow) ® Represents the force of Lift created by air flowing over the aerodynamic shape of the vehicle's surfaces.

W ® (The down-arrow) ® Represents the Weight (force due to mass) of the vehicle that opposes the lifting force.

T ® (The left-arrow) ® Represents the force of Thrust generated by the vehicle's engine.

D ® (The right-arrow) ® Represents the aerodynamic force of Drag created by the vehicle as it passes through the atmosphere at some speed.

Now look at the diagram you have and try to generalize it to something more basic than a problem of engineering. Erase (or ignore) the letters that you have assigned to the four arrows. Go and find any type of map (street map, state map, world map....etc.) and look around on that map to see if you can locate something that looks like this symbol. When you find it you will begin to realize how this one configuration of FIVE can be used to represent VARIOUS different types of orientations of MATTER and MOTION in our universe.

Examine the other MATTER/MOTION configurations of FIVE and see if you can identify objects and processes in your own life that can be attributed to these archetypes! Learn to use these diagrams to analyze (and thereby understand) the universe in which you create!
