Rainman's Simple Asparagus Grill

You can always be a hero on a weekend if you take a bunch of asparagus and prepare them as follows in the morning. By the late afternoon, when the dinner grill gets fired-up, these spears will be ready to grill-up for a handy and tasty treat!

Ingredients:

 1 Bunch of Asparagus Spears

1 Small Bottle-Zesty Italian Salad Dressing

 2 Tblspn. Fresh Chopped Garlic

 3 Tblspn. Balsamic Vinegar

Procedure:

  1. Sometime around 9AM or so, wash the asparagus, slice off the bottom 1/2" of the spears and discard. If you can't wake up that early because of the fun you had the night before, then do it as soon as you are awake and aware!
  2. Combine the spears and the other 3 ingredients in a large Ziplock plastic bag. Mix the ingredients well, roll-up the bag, and store in the 'fridge all morning and afternoon. By dinner time they will be totally ready to be grilled! Turn them over once or twice during the day if you have nothing better to do. Otherwise, have fun and forget about them!
  3. If you have an upper-tier grating on your grill, this is where these spears belong, with the heat on medium to high. Otherwise put them on the bottom grill at no higher than medium heat. Baste with a little of the marinade.
  4. Turn the asparagus after 5-10 minutes and baste with more marinade. Browned and even slightly blackened spears will possess a good flavor, and be hot and crunchy. I prefer to eat them like a savage (with my fingers!) a spear at a time. What other way could be better?
